Marvel Vs. Capcom Infinite, a first little enthusiastic contact

After a first announcement at the 2016 PlayStation Experience, Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite was rather discreet ... While it is supposed to land next September! If by then, two large size salons should fill some voids, Capcom has preferred to take the lead and offer the press a first presentation of the soft, at the end of April. On the program, some explorer handles from the developers, and a game session, to discover this brand new Marvel Vs. Capcom.

If you're interested in 2D combat games, you know Marvel Vs. Capcom. Born in the second half of the 90s, the series quickly built a pretty small reputation, as much for fans of VS fighting as for more casual players. It is necessary to say that the different games are taken rather quickly in hand, while proposing a real depth of games. Marvel Vs. Capcom is one of those titles that can be released without fear at a gaming evening with friends, ensuring a real success. But it's also one of the most fun games to watch at very high level. With its cast and colorful artistic direction, the series has always had a real charm. This obviously was not enough for the little guys Capcom: the team is determined to make the series grow, and reach a wider audience. At the risk of losing some aficionados?

Capcom did not frankly hide his intentions by introducing Marvel VS. Capcom Infinite: the will to attract more and more players is clearly assumed, from end to end of the title. What happens first of all by the visual appearance of the game. The last MvC offered a very original visual rendering, made of black lines and colors much more acid. What gave Marvel Vs Capcom 3, for example, a very aesthetic "American comics" of good quality. Except today, the public has changed a little, and the fans of these characters know them first through the films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Infinite therefore decided to abandon the artistic direction of previous games, and opted for something more realistic, or at least credible. Also in this concern to get closer to the different Marvel movies, the characters wear costumes drawn and / or inspired by films. What we see on Thor or Iron Man, a little less on Captain America or Hulk.

It is probably very subjective, and it may be that it may please some, but the result is rather unconvincing in our eyes. If the previous episodes were lost sometimes in a gabegie of colors all more flashy than the others, Infinite is rather dull. Morne. Sad. Even unwashed. This is especially striking when you look at Thor: if Capcom has reviewed the color schemes, the characters' design have not really changed. The Asgardian looks so straightforward to its version Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, but it pretty much sticks with colder colors, the more realistic artistic direction of soft. The previous games succeeded in marrying the styles so different from all these universes, so that one could see Amaterasu, Dante and Wolverine side by side without it appearing shocking. This is less true in Infinite, where characters like Megan Man or Morrigan get married pretty badly with the rest of the cast. The others give an impression of rather unpleasant blandness to a game that visually approaches a little bit of Injustice, the accuracy of details less.
