If some news had leaked several days earlier, the real revelation of Star Wars: Battlefront II was to take place at Star Wars Celebration 2017. So in Orlando that Electronic Arts had invited the world press this weekend, so To introduce her new baby. After a first trailer, a making-of and some discussions with the developers and representatives of Lucasfilm, we know more about the shooter of the American publisher, and especially on his long awaited solo campaign.
When it was released in November 2015, Star Wars: Battlefront left a mixed impression. Like many players, we had enjoyed the impressive technical achievement, and the almost sickly fidelity of soft to the work of George Lucas. But on the other side, the absence of a solo campaign, its uninspired modes of play and the overall softness of the game had somewhat cooled. Despite these criticisms, and the anger of some players who strongly criticized the game's DLC policy, Star Wars Battlefront sold extremely well. It should be said that by releasing his game at the same time as the seventh film, Electronic Arts offered an incredible media exposure.

Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi should highlight the link between Luke Skywalker and his new disciple Rey.
We are in 2017 and this year, after the Rogue One parenthesis: A Star Wars Story, Disney returns with episode eight, The Last Jedi. Malin, Electronic Arts plans to release at the same time his Battlefront II. But this time, more than the hype surrounding the movie, it's the game itself that should attract many looks, especially those big fans of Star Wars. If it is too soon for the certainties, and therefore to write an Overview, this weekend will have confirmed us anyway: DICE and Electronic Arts seem to have learned the lesson. Iden Verso is the main character in the Battlefront II campaign. A member of the Special Forces, she devotes a real cult to the Emperor.
You already knew it but Star Wars Battlefront II will offer a Campaign mode. In Orlando, we had the opportunity to learn more about it and what we know for now has enough to excite the curiosity of the fans, to say the least. The player will thus incarnate Iden Versio, member of the Special Forces of the Empire. This new category of troopers was designed for the needs of the game, hand in hand with Lucasfilm. These seasoned and extremely versatile soldiers will be a very good pretext for developers to propose a multitude of missions all very different. If the game is based on a strong FPS base, DICE has indicated that the Special Forces were used in sabotage missions; Moreover, in a short video making-of, unveiled only to the press, we had the opportunity to see some animations designed for Iden. There is one in particular that has attracted our attention, since it seems to allow us to arrive behind an enemy and to knock him out with a skillful blow of truncheons. We can assume that the game should propose phases of infiltration, or at least sequences in the third person where finesse and discretion will be de rigueur. In the same vein, with the Special Forces being able to fly many vehicles, one can expect to participate in some space battles that are expected to match the standards of the different films.

THE FIRST GAME OF MOTIVE STUDIO

Mark Thompson (Motive), game director on Star Wars Battlefront II.
But what interests us most, beyond the phases of play and the possibilities offered by the different peculiarities of the protagonists, is the angle chosen by the teams of Motive. Because it is not DICE who works on this piece of the game, but the studio founded by Jade Raymond (Assassin's Creed). Actually, these are three studios that cohabit on the development of Battlefront II. DICE of course, notably on the multiplayer and technical part, but also Motive and Criterion. While the latter will be responsible for proposing space battles worthy of the name, by taking care of the ships of the game, Motive was chosen to create a whole new adventure, hand in hand with Lucasfilm. Mark Thompson, game director at Motive and so the man in charge of this campaign, gave the leadership. There is no need to argue with him for a long time to understand that he is a big Star Wars fan; By his own admission, he dreamed of being able to add his brick to this gigantic
